Agnes. Here is an original photo that I took in Altoona, Pennsylvania, on 24 June 1972. Shown here from Altoona's 17th Street Bridge are the Penn Central's mainline tracks in the wake of Hurricane Agnes. Not a moving train to be seen! Al the left is the Penn Central's Passenger Station, not long before it's demolished to make way for the 10th Avenue Expressway. At the right are structures which were part of the Pennsylvania Railroad's 12th Street Car Shops. Brush Mountain dominates the distance. |
