Agnes. Here is an image of a photo by an unidentified photographer that was taken in Altoona, Pennsylvania, in late June of 1972. Shown here (L to R) is Penn Central engine #4257 and five more GM-EMD E8A diesels passing Altoona's Passenger Trailer. They're on their way to surmounting the East Slope of the Allegheny Mountains with a mail train bound for Pittsburgh and points West. It's one of the few trains moving in the wake of Hurricane Agnes. In the distance are the 7th Street Bridges. |
